5 things I’ve learned from reading fashion blogs:

1. If you’re a fashion blogger, dressing like this is socially acceptable:

(Oh my god, the shoes… fuck me gently with a chainsaw…)

2. Whatever this is, needs to die:

that thing on the left.

3. Somewhere over the rainbow, this makes sense:

4. This people make money for looking like this:

Hi, we comez from the Internetz.

5. You can make a post about the habits of your fucking cat, and 103 people will comment about it (seriously):

I don’t own any of the pictures. Woohoo.

    Hey!
    Funny post, hah 😀

Even though I’m part of this fashion blogging world (or more style blogging, as I do not write a lot about fashion) I think your blog is very interesting, because I like to read critical opinions too. Sometimes I agree, sometimes not, but most of the times I just laugh 😀

Maybe I wouldn’t think the same if I’ll be blogging for money, hah 😉

3rd pic makes sense to me, maybe because I love colours (:

Okay, I hope you understand my English.

    Have fun!

    Peace and love!

Which blogger wrote about the cat??
    That’s too funny haha

    • natihell / Oct 1 2010 7:40 pm

Hahaha, that Cupcakes and Cashmere girl. I normally thing she’s pretty cute, but that post about the cat…. come on ¬¬

      • Pashupati / Dec 26 2010 8:32 pm

THAT’S (part of) WHAT A PERSONAL BLOG IS FOR, DUDES!
There are also posts like that on computing blogs, on personal development blogs, etc.

  3. anne / Oct 1 2010 5:03 pm

yeah, who posted about the cat? HA! what a joke.

this was a good post. made me laugh. thanks!

  4. bri / Oct 1 2010 5:57 pm

Must go find a cat on the street so I can right about it and get more than 3 stupid comments on my blog now!

    • Badley / Oct 1 2010 8:36 pm

LOL bri, send the cat over my way when you’re done!

  5. devil / Oct 1 2010 6:57 pm

Pic #1…I was horrified before I even got to seeing the shoes. Dear God!

Pic #4…What in the world do those ridiculous-looking folks do to make money for looking like that? It can’t be prostitution, or they wouldn’t make very much.

At least the kitty is cute. I’d rather look at pictures of people’s cats than their kids.

    • Ruby Book / Nov 27 2011 4:15 am

Those “ridiculous-looking folks” are Tavi Gevinson and her friends. Tavi attended fashion week, has thousands of blog views daily, founded a magazine called Rookie (which I write for) and certainly knows what she’s doing. She’s 15 now and knows more about high fashion than anyone I’ve ever met.
She does NOT make money from her blog, except perhaps from Rookie. She is not one of those people who is famous for looking weird. Lots of people look weird. Tavi is actually very intelligent and mature, which is more than I can say for most of the people who write such cruel and un-insightful comments.
And as for the first picture: people who actually are interested in fashion know that clothing that is beautiful in itself doesn’t have to make a person appear thin or like a model to be beautiful. What she is wearing really isn’t all that unusual. It’s cargo pants and a blouse. Seriously.

And isn’t this post written by someone who says she doesn’t claim to know anything about fashion?

Tavi dresses weird just to get attention.
She’s mature? All she does is talk about 90’s shows, and she thinks that makes her educated or something. She makes obscure referances to try and sound “authentic” and knowledgeable.

#1 The shoes are pretty bad. It does almost look like she made her own Chanel clogs out of Crocs or something. The backpack is also making her look like a linebacker.

#2 That is Bryanboy who I guess now takes his fashion inspiration from Will Smith’s daughter. Sorry but it looked better on Willow.

#3 That would make sense to a 4 year old child allowed to dress them self for the first time.

#4 That looks like the group of geeks who get the tiny black and white photo way at the back of the yearbook.

#5 I love cats and refuse to hate on them. Though cupcakes and cashmere has sick a sickly sweet vibe I get cavities checking her blog. Though I guess it’s refreshing to see someone who doesn’t dress like a grandma or a hoochie but and interesting combo of the two. And kitties!!!

  7. Kristiāna vasariņa / Oct 3 2010 8:40 am

    HAHAHA this post is genious!

  8. Amalie / Oct 8 2010 8:49 pm

I hope someone will fuck you with a chainsaw!
    Love, xx (:

  11. M / Oct 18 2010 7:27 am

so this is what jane does with all her free time (im assuming she has a lot as she doesnt study or work) – create awful outfits?

  12. Dirty Bird / Oct 19 2010 8:26 am

  13. FashionGeorg / Nov 7 2010 2:31 pm

That’s right – fashion bloggers must be extraordinary and extroverted somehow! 😉

  14. Lyn / Nov 26 2010 9:58 pm

Simply put: I like your blog, and I totally loathe those narcissistic, ridiculous and vain-beyond-belief fashion bloggers. 🙂

  15. Peach / Dec 10 2010 12:52 pm

    hehehehe nice post! :))

  16. Grace / Jan 13 2011 11:16 pm

I just discovered your blog and it’s so hilarious. =)

  17. M / Jan 19 2011 12:47 pm

just discovered your blog via godammit.com.

I really have to say #4 is soooo ridiculous. Saw that picture once on Tavi’s or on Garbage Dress’s blog and yeah… As soon they don’t have the security of their blog layouts (which are damn damn cheap btw) and their followers, they look like shit. I mean hey, it’s not even sexy or something, they look like clowns in their free time.

I know that there are 3 pictures on my blog refering to fashion.
I hope I’m not in the same category as these figures of fun.

    good work

    M

    • Ruby Book / Nov 27 2011 4:18 am

“they look like shit. I mean hey, it’s not even sexy”

      1. She is 15 now and was probably around 13 or 14 in that picture. Why would she need to be “sexy”?
      2. Fashion is not about being “sexy”.

This is such an ignorant comment.

  18. Vasare / Jan 26 2011 10:59 am

hahaha great post! seriously amazing lol

  19. kikii / Feb 1 2011 10:32 pm

  22. Kate Ryder / Apr 4 2011 5:24 am

I just discovered your blog! So amusing! I too find Jane’s outfits less than flattering!
    I think you would like this blog;
    manrepeller.com (Maybe you know it?)

  23. Irene / May 25 2011 12:29 pm

Sigh, I guess I don’t dress weird well enough to be a fashion blogger. Maybe if I shop online more, I can find clothes that don’t fit me so I can look more like a “fashion blogger.” Err, I guess it’s called trendy?

    Signed,
    The Unfashionable “Fashion” Blogger

    • Ruby Book / Nov 27 2011 4:19 am

Actually, “trendy” is kind of the opposite of fashion bloggers. People who actually care about fashion have a unique ability to disregard trends and be unique.

  24. nileta / Jul 30 2011 11:48 am

    a hahahaha! sooooo true!

  25. michebagparties / Aug 3 2011 5:52 pm

Quite an amusing blog — if I do say so myself!
I’m just embarrassed that my hometown didn’t make it on the “worst dressed” list this year~ Oh well, we got #9 for the most crime ridden city….that’s something, isn’t it?

  26. Jellie Bean / Aug 3 2011 6:06 pm

Just found your blog & I sooo agree with this post. People rely on them for sane & normal fashion advice & then the so called fashionista’s walk around like extras in an 80s scifi movie. I’m all for freedom of style but don’t try and push it on other people

  27. twinkledammy / Aug 4 2011 11:26 am

OMG!! what have I stumbled upon??? This is such a funny funny blog!!!! Hahahahaha!! Love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Stephie / Aug 7 2011 2:47 pm

Hi! I find this entry so fucking funny, haha. Your blog is starting to become my favorite ^^

  29. imran / Aug 25 2011 11:06 am

All those who have had a fashion and you experience vouch for it since it is a one stop destination for all your fashion needs.

  30. The enigmatic youngsters / Oct 7 2011 2:51 am

    wow…lol

  31. Lizzy / Oct 17 2011 12:28 pm

those girls in the 4th picture… omg so ridiculous, they look like nerdy ugly girls from movies about high school, I would never guess they are fashion bloggers. I love fashion but I sure hate fashion bloggers, I don’t know why brands and designers give so much hype to these people, probably they do out of fear of retaliation, they sure look stupid!

  32. mycharmingsister / Oct 25 2011 7:28 am

hahahaha so true. i’m always commenting on “super popular” fashion blogs and a lot of the time it’s like really, you have this many comments for this outfit where you are wearing a hello kitty shirt with jeans and flip flops? great post!

  33. kerry / Oct 26 2011 3:23 am

this blog is the greatest ever.

  34. incisive brain / Jan 2 2012 7:02 pm

You are a genius! i agree with you! I don’t understand why lot of people have a blog without offering strong and intersting contents but their cat/dog or their bag’s picture!

  35. Very Secret Agent / Jan 4 2012 9:09 pm

    Ahahhahaaa! funny as hell!
